Goal is the cognitive representation of a desired state. My goal is to study abroad on any major that I am interested in up to doctorate. After that I will still love to stay at the university as a post-graduate student, doing some researches that are relevant to my major, and at the same time working as a lecturer, nurturing our nation's biggest assets. Besides, I will advocate my students to space out two hours of their time weekly so that we can all give free education to the underprivileged community such as the refugees, orphans, handicapped and patients, so that they will adopt great values which they will never get from classroom and textbooks.
The reason behind my goal is that I would like to educate the future generation by sharing whatever that I've learned in my entire life and at the same time instilling them with noble virtues. According to the norm, every man is always for himself. However, to me, it is very important to let them realize the importance of not taking their own worth too seriously. The only race is human race and it is important for us to work towards the same goal, which is for the betterment of all. My goal is attainable because I am sure that I have the persistence and determination to achieve it. Since young I have always wanted the world to be a safe and harmonious place to stay, where people live happily and there's no worry about starvation, crime, war and so forth. Education can make it feasible for us. There is a great difference between getting education and going to school. You may be schooled, but you may not be educated. This is a big flaw in our education system and what I want to do is nothing but to make it right.
In order to achieve my goal, I put in a lot of effort to excel in academic. I quit playing computer games when I was in Form 1 and I do not watch soap operas since Form 3. Some would say that I am a boring person because my life has no entertainment at all. Well who says that entertainment is all about idolizing celebrities, sobbing at Korean dramas and getting addicted to Dota 2? I am breaking the stereotype as I enjoy engaging myself in social activities and sport, especially squash, and these are the best form of entertainment to me. By doing so I actually have more time to study and I am able to concentrate on self revision better. I would say that I balanced my involvement in curriculum and co-curriculum well. As a strong prove, I am the first runner-up for National Young Scientist Competition as well as squash district player. I hold a few positions in clubs and camps simultaneously and I got 9A+ 1A for my SPM. With my previous experiences of having a good control in my life I believe that I can realize my goal in the near future.
Now I am applying the SMART acronym in planning my goal. Why is it necessary to plan my goal? Just work hard for it is more than enough! However, a goal without a plan is just a wish and if you do not have a clear agenda of what you want to do, chances for you to fail it is very high as you tend to procrastinate and lose interest over time. I want to become a professor in any field that I major in (S-specific). In order to measure my progress I plan to get 4 As with 2A* in my A-Levels before I proceed to the next level. I want to obtain a doctorate in 10 years time.
